My name is Ken Skaggs. I am a twenty-five year veteran trucker and a writer for Ten-Four Magazine and www.bigcitydriver.com. My monthly column, for over eight years now, is always about City Driving Safety, and trucking in general. I have been on several radio shows (Bill Mack, Trucking Bozo, Matt McAllister, Johnny Brandmeier and more), and I occasionally speak at trucking companies and truck driving schools, where I talk about my Ten Keys to Safe City Driving.
I just released a video that I think is very important for our industry- the Ten Keys to Safe City Driving. This video is unlike anything out there. I've been to at least three-dozen driver orientations and I've seen just about all of them. I know there are a few videos out there on Road Rage and How to Time Traffic Lights, but that's it. There is nothing like this. I put all of my trucking experience into it. I cover subjects from a driver's perspective, in such a way that the Safety Departments will love it too.
Please take a moment and watch the video. It's online in Windows Media format, so you can just click on it and watch it on any Windows computer, at www.bigcitydriver.com. The sample video covers the first three Keys and it's about eight minutes. The entire video is thirty minutes and you can read all about it at the website, including all Ten Keys.
If you buy the video, you can download it instantly
online, or get a DVD in the mail. Anyone who buys the video also gets-
*Unlimited
MP3 downloads of the audio, so you can burn CD's for your drivers.
*The complete
text in PDF format, so you can pass it out at your orientations.
*Browse my archived
articles and use them in your company newsletters.
Even if you don't buy the video, you are still welcome to copy any of my articles and use them in your company newsletter. (Please don't publish them on the web or in a book for sale.) The only stipulation I would add is, please, include my name as author and a mention of my website www.bigcitydriver.com. You could also mention the MP3 download, which is only $1.00 for individuals.
Thank you for your time,
Ken Skaggs

Truck Driver Education Source
Big City Driver is dedicated to trucking safety. Webmaster and founder Ken Skaggs has dozens of articles that promote Trucking Safety and Safe City Driving from a drivers perspective, but professional enough for Trucking Company Safety Departments. Here at Big City Driver you will find true stories and serious driver education lessons, like Tales of the Tailgater, Wind, the Silent Killer, Preventing Preventable accidents and Holidays and accidents. You will also find funny and entertaining stories, like Chickenhauler School, Monkeys can Drive and Driver Cuss-Out.There are lots of anecdotal, true stories and inspirational stories and articles.
In this line of work, it's easy to get depressed, gain weight, and lose touch with reality because of the long periods of time gone from home that many drivers experience, not to mention the aggravation of New York City, other big city dangers and aggressive drivers. It's important for todays professional drivers to be smart enough to learn how to stay calm under pressure and keep their sense of humor, which is not easy, and, try to look at daily driving hazzards scientifically instead of emotionally, and learn to relax and entertain themselves.
Many experienced truck drivers love to talk about the good ol' days, of course I am no exception. Because of all the trash-talk on the CB lately, some will argue that there was a time when drivers had class, but in my twenty-five years of trucking, I found that they still do, and even more now than ever. I think it's an age thing, or, just common sense.
