The Legend of Lucille!

Everywhere I go, I hear people on the c.b. talking about a girl named Lucille. At first I thought it was some kind of joke. But I soon learned that she is very real. And everything that I heard about her was true.
I first heard of her about ten years ago in West Memphis, Arkansas. I was laying down in my sleeper at the Petro. My c.b. was turned off and I was being lulled to sleep between two reefer trailers that played a nice harmony. But I could still hear my neighbor talking on his CB radio. He had his CB turned up very loud for some reason. He seemed to be having a lot of fun asking where Lucille was, over and over. He was getting a lot of different answers as to where she was. And he believed every one. He would get out of his truck and go see if it was really her everytime someone said they saw her. Then he would get back on the c.b. in his truck and talk about her some more.

I fell asleep about eleven p.m. and I woke up at five o'clock like I do every morning. He was still there! Still looking for Lucille too. Someone said they saw her and he got out of his truck to see. I went inside and got a cup of coffee. When I got back in my truck, I could still hear him asking if anyone saw Lucille! He said Lucille could keep him awake if only she were here. He said he saw her yesterday in Dallas and he would see her again tomorrow in Knoxville.

Apparently, she's everywhere. And a lot of people are looking for her. But not many ever seem to find her. She is very mysterious. Those that do find her, usually have to pay for her in more ways than one. She can kill you. She can get you fired. And she can have you thrown in jail. But, it seems they still want her.

Who is she? A lot of people seem to know her. But many who do, wont say anything about her. Everybody knows her and nobody knows her. She's everywhere and nowhere.

That's because Lucille is illegal. Lucille is not really a human being. It's a drug. Actually, Lucille is a code name for a drug. I'm not sure what the real name is for this drug, but it is some kind of speed. The drivers who use it are trying to stay awake for long periods of time. They snort it. It's a white powder, something like cocaine.

Even though trucking companies are required by law to drug test their drivers, there are still a few small ones that don't. And drivers who do drugs know ways around the drug test. They buy this body cleansing juice and when they drink it, they can pass a drug test. Others use someone elses urine, they carry in a small bottle. And when it is time to give a urine sample, they just pour the bottle into the cup.
Of course most truckers do not use drugs. But like every walk of life, there are a few who do.

There are many hot spots around America, where these dope addicts get their dope. Many good drivers know all about it, because they hear it on the CB. But they don't tell on anybody because they think that wouldn't be cool.

I will though. I hate dope addicts, especially when they are driving. Even worse when they are driving a truck.

Submissions Wanted

Attention writers. I just added a blog for this site. It's not your typical blog, where you can just log in and post. But I will be accepting submissions which I will post. Of course, I will give you full credit for your submissions, placing your name prominently on the article, along with any by-line and link you'd like to put there. So far, the only guidelines I have are- keep with the theme and make it a true story or urban legend about road rage, police brutality or corruption. Please send inqiries to info@driverstory.com.

Some of my other work

Those of you who know me, know I've been writing for Ten Four Magazine since 2000, where I publish a lot of articles about trucking. But I have a lot of true stories that aren't exactly, shall we say, politically correct enough to publish in a legitimate, upbeat trucking magazine like that. That's why I have this site. I started it in 2000 as well, but I put all my deep dark true stories from my corrupt upbringing in here.

Although I have had over one hundred articles published, I have yet to get an actual book published. And I have a lot of ideas I am working on. I decided to put one that's done on here for all to read for free. The others are books I'm working on or other things I've done:
